About Mo
Motivation
After 14 years of working across virtually all functions and companies of different sizes, I have realized that my real passion is for leading, building and growing businesses. In particular, I grew up in a family business-based environment, my father was a long-time family business employee and my uncles owned several businesses, making me passionate about how a closely held permanent structure would allow me to lead with compassion and a long-term mindset. This is why I raised MKF Continuity from investors who share my vision and values.
Experience
I bring a diverse set of experiences across all functions and smaller and larger companies; the one key adjoining attribute is my passion for customer service. At Google I was a Product Manager with P&L responsibility for two products including DSA which is Google’s ads automation and targeting product, where I led initiatives which tripled customer count. At Square Trade (an Allstate company), I led trust & Safety, both product and operations, where I reduced fraudulent claims cost while improving the user experience. I was an early employee at Varsity Tutors (NYSE:NRDY) where I built our B2B business, sales operations function, and our marketing models. I started my career as a software engineer at various companies, followed by working as a consultant at McKinsey & Company where I was known for being outstanding at client service. I received my MBA from Harvard Business School and B.A.Sc. in Systems Design Engineering (co-op) from the University of Waterloo.
Extra-Professional
I am very passionate about both science and disability rights. I sit on the Strategic Advisory Council of Foundation Fighting Blindness – we have spent ~$800mn funding basic scientific research into retinal degenerative diseases. I am also a member of the Board of Directors of Baseera Foundation for the visually impaired, an Egyptian non-profit working towards the inclusion of the visually impaired into Egyptian Society. Baseera carries out over 10,000 eye operations annually, has two centers of excellence for rehabilitation, provides accredited degrees for rehabilitation professionals and was a pivotal part to changing the laws on non-discrimination in Egypt. I am also a gym addict, foody and global traveler, who has visited >43 countries, and lived in 7 countries.
